Notes:
Drury Blake Baggett was born to Burrell Baggett and Elizabeth McLemore on 1 March 1823 in Lauderdale County, Alabama. Drury married Nancy Delila McLemore in 1850 in Franklin County, Alabama. Drury is listed in the Marion County, Alabama 1860 census as being a farmer with an estate value of $300 and personal value of $185. Drury and Delila had three children, William Mary and John.
Drury enlisted in the 1st Alabama along with his nephews Andrew Jackson Baggett and James William Baggett. Andrew and James are the sons of Abraham Baggett, Drury’s older brother.
During the war, Drury lost his wife and two children to sickness.
After the war, Drury left Alabama with William, his only surviving son, for Tennessee and Kentucky. Drury married Matilda Songer on 20 January 1867 in Pikeville, TN. Drury and Matilda had ten children. From about 1869 to 1879, Drury lived in Huntsville, Kentucky working as a farmer and timbering. Drury moved back to Bledsoe County, Tennessee around 1879.
Drury died at home on 18 September 1907 at the age of 84. Matilda was granted a widow’s pension of $12 a month for Drury’s service in the Civil War.
Drury and Matilda are buried at the Rollin Cemetery near land that they owned.
