It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of Glenda McWhirter Todd. She passed away on September 3, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was a historian, genealogist, and author who prided herself on being a descendant of Andrew Ferrier McWhirter of the 1st Alabama Cavalry, USV. Her work over the past two decades and her dedication to the 1st Alabama Cavalry has created a legacy that will last for years to come.

Her life's work has touched thousands of people through the years, and I am glad that I had the pleasure to work with her as long as I did. My hope is that her work will live on for years to come to educate and inspire a new generation.

Clinton D. Tittle was was born in 1828 in Walker Co., AL, and was the son of James Tittle, born 1796 in SC. He married Lydia Dodd, daughter of Berry Dodd and Mary "Polly" Sheffield on January 5, 1851 in Hancock Co., AL. Lydia was born in 1828 in Larissa, Walker Co., AL and died in 1895 in Larissa. Their children were: Oscar, born October 4, 1851 in Winston Co., AL, died July 4, 1933, married Martha Harper, born August 20, 1850, died January 4, 1890; James, born September 21, 1853, died 1872; Jonas, born 1853, died 1872; Mary E., born October 14, 1855, died April 22, 1930; Lydia Catherine, born May 17, 1858, died 1887; William Carroll, born May 17, 1858 (twin to Lydia); Sarah Margaret, born October 8, 1861; and Andrew Clinton Tittle.
